Sudamala Resort, Seraya

Sudamala Seraya occupies the white-sand beach of Seraya Kecil, a small island about 20 minutes by speedboat north-west of Labuan Bajo harbour. Thatched beach bungalows sit in a line behind the sand, with premium and panorama bungalows and a Panorama Villa on the slope behind. Bathrooms are partly open-air.

The house reef starts a few metres off the beach and has good coral, turtles and reef sharks, and snorkelling gear, kayaks and paddleboards are free subject to availability. There is a saltwater pool on the beachfront, Sudajiva Spa, and dining at Lomak restaurant and Lamba Lero. Aqura Dives runs dives into the park, and the team arranges island hopping and Komodo dragon trips. Solar provides most of the power and there is a coral conservation programme. WiFi is slower than on the mainland.

It suits couples and families wanting a simple, beautiful island stay with excellent snorkelling. Guests advise bringing snacks, as there is only one restaurant. Transfers run at set times; book with the reservations team.
