Le Pirate Island is a small private island, Pulau Sabolon Besar, about an hour by boat north-west of Labuan Bajo. Accommodation is deliberately simple: beachfront glamping tents with private bathrooms, glamping in the garden behind, and basic beach huts with shared bathrooms, all within about 30 metres of the sea. Power is solar, so there is no air conditioning or hot water, and Starlink WiFi works only in the restaurant.
Snorkelling straight off the beach is the highlight, with dense coral, giant clams and big fish schools. The Island Club package (around IDR 350,000 per person per night) adds buffet lunch, a three-course dinner and unlimited snorkelling and canoeing. Signature Scuba Flores has a dive base on the island. Guests must be 16 or over and stay at least two nights.
The free shuttle boat leaves the Le Pirate office in Labuan Bajo at 10am, meeting at 9.30am, and returns at 2pm. Book direct by WhatsApp or email for breakfast, transfers and 10% off.
Boats and rooms sell out from June to September. Message the operator early.
