TA'AKTANA, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa

TA'AKTANA opened in May 2024 on a 7.4-hectare site at Pantai Wae Rana, on the coast just north of town. It has 70 rooms: 45 suites and 25 villas set between forest and sea, including seven overwater villas styled after the longboats of the Bajo sea nomads. Every room has a private sun deck, and villas come with butler service.

The design and name draw on Manggarai culture, with the layout inspired by the spider-web lingko rice fields. There are three restaurants serving Flores and Indonesian food, a cocktail bar on the jetty, a spa built to look like a sea cave, an Olympic-length pool and a kids' club. The resort runs yacht trips into the national park.

It is the most expensive stay on the mainland, aimed at couples and families wanting top-tier service. It scores 9.5 on Trip.com; one guest reported evening noise from a restaurant above rooms 309 to 318. Book through Marriott Bonvoy.
