Sylvia Resort has been on the Waecicu coast since 2013, a two-minute walk from Waecicu beach and close to Sylvia Hill, a well-known sunset viewpoint. The low, green-roofed buildings are spread through gardens that slope down to its own sandy beach, with views across to the small islands offshore.
Rooms are comfortable rather than stylish, with air conditioning, terraces and garden or sea outlooks, and there is a pool, a beachside restaurant and loungers on the sand. It also handles conferences and events, so it can be busy with groups. It scores around 8.2 on Trip.com from about 400 reviews; recent guests through October 2026 highlight the beach, the quiet setting away from town and good breakfasts and dinners.
It suits families and travellers on a budget who want a beach rather than a harbour view. Expect to take a taxi into town, about 15 minutes. Book through the booking sites or by phone.
Boats and rooms sell out from June to September. Message the operator early.
