Plataran Komodo Resort runs a private cooking class that starts with visits to the seafood market and a local market to choose ingredients. With the resort chef you then cook a three-course Indonesian menu, then eat it for lunch.
The package includes refreshments, a cooking class certificate and a Manggarai songke woven shawl as a souvenir. It is a polished, comfortable option suited to couples and families who want a guided introduction to local markets without arranging it themselves.
The same team offers other land experiences: a waterfall day to Cunca Lolos and Cunca Plias, and a half-day combining Batu Cermin cave, the Rangko sea pool cave and a fishing village. Enquire through Plataran by WhatsApp or email; non-guests can book.
It suits travellers staying at the resort or along the Waecicu coast who want a guided half-day without leaving the comfort of a hotel setting. Prices are at the upper end for Labuan Bajo, reflecting the private format and inclusions. Ask about combining it with the resort's sunrise hill breakfast.
Boats and rooms sell out from June to September. Message the operator early.
