Wanua Adventure says it has been running trips since 1994 and specialises in the classic slow crossing between Lombok and Flores. The 4D3N routes run in both directions, Lombok to Labuan Bajo and Labuan Bajo to Lombok, and use wooden boats with simple cabins or deck sleeping.
Stops typically include Gili Bola and Moyo Island off Sumbawa, Komodo or Rinca for the dragons, Padar, Pink Beach and Kalong Island for the evening bat flight. It is a long, social trip with plenty of snorkelling and some open-water passages, so it suits backpackers with time and a tolerance for basic facilities.
Sea conditions on the Sumbawa crossings can be rough, so ask about the boat's safety gear and the crew's plans for bad weather before you book. The office is on Jl. Soekarno Hatta in Labuan Bajo, and bookings go through email or WhatsApp. The trip runs best in the dry season from around April to October. Bring cash for park fees and extras, as there are no ATMs on the islands.
Boats and rooms sell out from June to September. Message the operator early.
