Senja means dusk, and this upstairs terrace on Jl. Soekarno Hatta is set up for the evening, opening at 16:00 so you can catch the light over the harbour. The building is open on the sides with wooden beams, long tables and a large shade tree growing through the deck.
The kitchen cooks modern Indonesian food with Balinese and Manggarai (west Flores) influences, alongside grilled fish and a choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes. It is a relaxed place for a first taste of local flavours without the rough edges of a street warung.
Senja holds a 4.5 rating from about 400 Google reviews. It is open daily from 16:00 to 23:00; no reservation is usually needed for small groups.
Order a few small plates to share and pair them with fresh juice or a cold beer. The terrace is upstairs and open to the breeze, so it stays cooler than many indoor rooms on the strip. It sits close to the boat offices, which makes it easy to fit in after booking a trip.
Boats and rooms sell out from June to September. Message the operator early.
