Samara runs a small fleet of teak and ironwood phinisi from Labuan Bajo. Samara I is a 27 m boat with five ensuite cabins for up to 12 guests and is the one to look at if you want a shared trip, as it sells individual cabins on set departures as well as whole-boat charters. Samara II has four air-conditioned cabins for up to 10 and is private only, laid out with families in mind.
The company also manages Mischief, a three-cabin dive yacht with a dive master on the crew, and Otium, a 48 m six-cabin phinisi for longer voyages. A sample five day Komodo route takes in Kelor and Kalong, Padar and Pink Beach, Taka Makassar and Manta Point, Gili Lawa Darat and Sebayur. Paddle boards and snorkelling gear come on board.
Published private rates start at about USD 4,500 per night for Samara II. Enquiries go through the website or WhatsApp, and the team will quote shared cabins on Samara I for specific dates.
Boats and rooms sell out from June to September. Message the operator early.
