MadeInItaly is one of the oldest foreign-run restaurants in Labuan Bajo. Chef Marco Bertini arrived from Tuscany in May 2010, when the town had only a handful of dive centres, and the kitchen still follows his rule of making as much as possible from scratch. Expect handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, grilled meat and fish, and a proper Italian wine list.
The restaurant sits on Jl. Pantai Pede on the southern side of town, a short ride from the harbour. It offers free pick-up and drop-off from hotels in town, which makes it an easy dinner after a long day on the boats, and it also does takeaway and delivery. Across the road, Bertini Artisan Baking (opened 2023) sells Italian breads and pastries, useful for breakfast or a picnic before an early departure.
Prices are higher than local warungs but in line with other Western restaurants in town. It holds a rating of 4.5 from nearly 2,000 Google reviews. Book a table by WhatsApp in high season (July to September) and ask for the pick-up when you reserve.
Boats and rooms sell out from June to September. Message the operator early.
