Kudanil Explorer

Kudanil Explorer is a 50 m steel expedition yacht, built in 1978 and converted for private exploration, with a 12.5 m beam that makes her noticeably steadier than most wooden phinisi in choppy water. There are eight identical above-deck cabins for up to 16 guests, each with floor-to-ceiling windows, an ensuite bathroom and a private balcony, plus more than 1,000 sq m of guest space and a crew of 21.

Her Beyond Komodo season runs from May to October and pairs the national park with the Flores and Sumbawa coast. Activities include diving, snorkelling, surfing, paddle boarding and treks, run from tenders. Other months are spent in Mentawai, the Banda Sea and Raja Ampat.

The yacht works for groups who want space and stability and are less attached to the traditional phinisi look. Bookings are by enquiry via email or WhatsApp. Because the yacht is in the region only part of the year, plan around the published expedition calendar and book early for July and August. Ask the team which park and diving fees are included in the rate.
