Komodo ATV

Komodo ATV is based in Nggorang village, about 15 minutes' drive south-east of Labuan Bajo. Guided rides head out on dirt tracks through rice fields, small rivers and patches of forest, passing farms and villages where locals wave from the roadside. It makes a change from boat days and fits easily into a half-day.

The quad bikes are modern, helmets are provided, and a guide leads each group. Reviewers note that you can turn up on the day without a reservation, though it is wise to message ahead in high season. Expect to get muddy in the wet months.

Wear closed shoes and clothes you do not mind getting dirty, and bring sunglasses for the dust in the dry season. Rides can be combined with a visit to Cunca Plias waterfall or a sunset viewpoint through some operators in town. Children can ride as passengers with an adult.
