KLM Gammara is a Buginese phinisi built at Tana Beru in 2018 and 2019 from ironwood and golden teak, 30 m on the hull with five air-conditioned ensuite cabins: a panoramic Master, an ocean-view Suite and three Deluxe cabins. Safety equipment listed includes two 15-person liferafts, lifebuoys, 36 life jackets, oxygen, fire extinguishers in every cabin and a 7 m speedboat tender.
Gammara runs shared 3D2N open trips capped at around a dozen guests, so the boat feels personal rather than crowded. Guests mention lounging nets, games, movie nights with a projector and a zero-plastic approach. Outside the Komodo season she also sails to Raja Ampat, the Bandas and Alor.
It is a sensible choice for couples, families and small groups who want a well-equipped mid-range boat. Book through the website enquiry form or the operator's Instagram. Book early for July and August, and confirm the current open trip price, which is not listed on the website, along with whether park fees are included.
Boats and rooms sell out from June to September. Message the operator early.
