Escape Bajo (Brew, Bite, Bed)

Escape Bajo combines a coffee bar, restaurant and a few rooms in a white building climbing the hill on Jl. Binongko, above the northern end of the harbour. The coffee comes from Escape Coffee, an Indonesian specialty roaster, and the kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and casual dinners.

The main draw is the rooftop terrace, which looks straight across the bay to the islands and catches the sunset. It is a calm place to work or wait out the midday heat, and it is a short walk from the bars on the same road.

The steps up from the street are steep, so it is not ideal for anyone with limited mobility. Message by WhatsApp to check kitchen hours, which can change outside high season.

Come in the late afternoon for coffee or a cold drink, stay for sunset, then walk down to the bars on Jl. Binongko for the evening. The rooms upstairs suit travellers who want to stay close to the harbour but away from the noise of the main street. Wi-Fi is available for guests working remotely.
