Alcira Phinisi (Captain Komodo)

Alcira is a 26 m phinisi built from ironwood, run by Captain Komodo and based in Labuan Bajo. She takes up to 12 passengers in two double rooms with queen beds and two cabins with four single beds each, all with air conditioning and charging points. There are two shared bathrooms, a 30 sq m upper deck with sunbeds and bean bags, and a smaller rear deck.

The boat carries a liferaft, life jackets, marine radio, GPS, satellite phone and fire extinguishers. Cruising at around 12 knots, she covers distances faster than many wooden boats, which leaves more time at the stops. Meals are mostly Indonesian with some European breakfasts and plenty of fruit and seafood.
